New treatment for non-infectious uveitis
Roivant subsidiary Priovant Therapeutics is seeking regulatory approval to expand the indication for brepocitinib following successful Phase 3 trial results. In the Clarity-1 and Clarity-2 studies, patients on brepocitinib did not reach treatment failure for a median duration exceeding 48 weeks, compared to 12 weeks for the placebo group.
- Field
- drugs and trials
- What they did
- Roivant subsidiary Priovant Therapeutics demonstrated in two Phase 3 trials (Clarity-1 and Clarity-2) that the drug brepocitinib allows patients with non-infectious uveitis to maintain vision for a median of over 48 weeks without treatment failure, compared to 12 weeks for the placebo group.
- Why it matters
- This finding helps prevent blindness and reduces the need for immunosuppressive steroids, which patients required for 40 additional weeks compared to the placebo group.
