A minivan-sized sponge discovered at 6,990 feet underwater
NOAA scientists discovered a sponge colony measuring 3.7 meters long in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. The team used the Deep Discoverer remotely operated vehicle to locate the structure during the 2015 Hohonu Moana expedition.
