Single major adverse cardiac event in the standard-of-care arm
In the Phase 2b ELPIS II trial involving 40 infants, adding Laromestrocel resulted in one major adverse cardiac event compared to eight in the standard-of-care arm (P=0.043). No treatment-related serious adverse events were identified through 12 months.
- Field
- ageing and longevity
- What they did
- Researchers evaluated the effect of the drug Laromestrocel on the risk of cardiac complications in 40 infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome during phase 2b clinical trials. A statistically significant reduction in the number of serious cardiovascular events was observed in the group receiving the drug compared to the group receiving standard treatment.
- Why it matters
- The results may help develop new treatment protocols for infants with congenital heart defects, reducing the risk of life-threatening complications during the critical recovery period.
